FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

INDIANAPOLIS -- The Central Indiana Education Alliance will release its fourth annual Community Report next week, which indicates that strong community support fosters the success of young residents in Marion County from cradle to career.

Highlights of the report include statistics and information on preschool education programs, high school graduation rates, ISTEP passing rates and college attainment as well as household income levels and unemployment rates.

The alliance will also announce its inaugural Education Weekend, May 16 to 18. A weekend full of informative and interactive activities is planned across Indianapolis to engage and enlighten participants, including:

  • STEAM Day, to showcase educational achievements in science, technology, engineering, arts and math.
  • A special viewing of the 2000 blockbuster movie "Remember the Titans."
  • Panel discussions on faith and education, and the impact of Brown v. Board of Education on access and equality on the 60th anniversary of the decision.
  • The presentation of the Rotary Equity Awards in honor or memory of community leaders who have had a positive impact on education.

Media are invited to join Central Indiana Education Alliance convener and IUPUI Chancellor Charles R. Bantz -- along with representatives from the 37 Greater Indianapolis-area education, business, nonprofit, community, civic and philanthropic institutions that represent the alliance -- as they announce the successful collaboration's results. The collaboration is helping to ensure that every child is ready for school, graduates from school and is successful in college, career and life.
