IU School of Social Work graduate programs ranked in top 10 for overall value
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
INDIANAPOLIS -- GraduatePrograms.com has ranked the graduate programs of the IU School of Social Work among the top 10 in the U.S. for overall value.
“The news from GraduatePrograms.com only confirms what our students and faculty have known for some time,” School of Social Work Dean Michael Patchner said. “Our graduate programs at the Indiana University School of Social Work present students with all the ingredients they need to succeed: outstanding faculty, who are not only known for their research and scholarship but are good teachers who are committed to the success of their students.
“The faculty -- coupled with a strong field education program that works to ensure that students optimize their learning through their practica at social service agencies -- give our students a solid educational experience that allows them to be successful not only while they are in school but in their professional careers,” he said. “Our faculty, students and graduates can be found making a difference in people's lives in Indiana, around the country and across the globe. Consequently, this ranking from GraduatePrograms.com affirms the good work being done at the school.”
About 800 students are enrolled in the school’s graduate program at Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis and other IU campuses.
For more than 100 years, the school has helped people face and overcome problems that threaten to derail their lives. The school traces its history to the Department of Social Service, which opened in Indianapolis in 1911. That makes the school the oldest professional social work education program in the United States that began and continuously functions as part of a university.
To help prospective social work grad students better evaluate their options for continuing education, GraduatePrograms.com compiled and analyzed more than 40,000 ratings posted on its site by students attending more than 1,200 different graduate programs nationwide.
Other programs rated among the top 10 for overall value are University of Alabama, Boston University, Clark Atlanta University, University of Maine, Portland State University, Alabama A&M University, Florida International University, Temple University and Hunter College – CUNY.
