  • Sept. 19, 2013

What:             The Great Lakes Equity Center at the IU School of Education at IUPUI is hosting its second annual Equity Leaders Institute, “Using Data for Social Justice in Education: Purposes, Perspectives & Processes.” About 50 school district leaders from Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, Minnesota, Ohio and Wisconsin are expected to attend.

When:             8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Sept. 19 and 20

Where:           Indiana Historical Society, 450 W. Ohio St., Indianapolis

Why:               The institute is designed to support participants in advancing equity and social justice at the school-district level. Participants will learn to identify and evaluate methods for collecting and using data such as standardized test scores with the intent to inform better decision-making for policies, schools, students and parents/communities, and thereby to create fair opportunities for academic success among all students.
