INDIANAPOLIS - The Association of University Technology Managers Central Region meeting in Indianapolis will highlight technology transfer, which brings discoveries at universities and other nonprofits to the marketplace.

More than 200 Midwestern university technology managers, researchers and administrators are expected to attend, including Indiana University Research & Technology Corp. officials; technology transfer and research directors and staff at IU campuses and other universities in Indiana and the Midwest; representatives from industry and government organizations; patent attorneys; and other support professionals.

Registration is open for the AUTM 2013 Central Region Meeting, which will take place July 17 to 19 at the Hyatt Regency downtown. Its theme is “Raising the Game.”

Workshop topics include “What is a startup success?”; “Patent pooling and bundling: options and perspectives”; “A new game is underway: The America Invents Act”; and “The courts vs. patents.”

There will be a conversation with industry leaders about trends and strategies for working with academia featuring representatives of Eli Lilly and Co., Dow Chemical Co., Cook Medical and Protect & Gamble. A second conversation will focus on the “uncertain future of research funding and its impact on technology transfer.”
